Doug Marcaida has spent decades studying, teaching and developing edged-weapon systems. His approach to knife design comes from practical experience—how a blade moves, how it balances and how its geometry supports its intended purpose.

The Kortada draws inspiration from Filipino blade tradition, particularly the ginunting profile. Doug refined the concept into a distinctive design with an aggressive point, purposeful cutting geometry and a form that immediately carries his design language.

Doug Marcaida is a Filipino martial artist, edged-weapon specialist, knife designer and founder of Marcaida Kali. He is widely recognized for bringing a practitioner's perspective to blade evaluation and design.
